An image of Miss Kitty Penny Slot machine gameThe Miss Kitty Penny slot is a well known and all around loved slot machine at land based casinos. This is why Grandmother Pauline McKee was playing the beloved Slot Game at a Casino. This week grandmother Pauline won 185 credits on the slot amounting to $1.85. However after this small amount was won the machine gave Grandmother Pauline a message stating that she also won a whopping $41.797.550.16.

This led to a dispute by the casino not paying out, stating that it was a technical glitch on the machine. Grandmother Pauline who has 13 grandchildren did not like the idea and thus sued the casino. Sadly her case was thrown out by the Iowa Supreme Court.

“I had my doubts from the start, because that’s a lot of money for a penny machine,” she told the Chicago Tribune.

“I was hoping to help my children out financially, but it wasn’t meant to be.”

The message ‘Malfunction’ was shown, which according to the casino clearly indicates that “malfunction voids all pays and plays”.

The Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission (IRGC) secured the machine at the time of the dispute and investigated sending the software and hardware to an independent testing laboratory.

After the investigation it was found that the machine software was programmed to only allow a bonus of up to $10,000. They still could not explain how the multi-million bonus message had occurred. Aristocrat Technologies, the machine’s maker, stated that this type of error has been an already known occurrence and that they are aware of it. On top of that they suggested “component degradation over time may increase the susceptibility to this rare occurrence”.
