Countdown to the 2015 US Open Tennis

The US Open is a tennis tournament played on open-air hard courts in the United States every year. The 135th edition of the US Open will take place from August 31 to September 1, 2015 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York, United States. This edition is also the fourth and final Grand Slam event of the year.

The six-time defending champion in the woman’s singles event Serena Williams will also be attempting to become the first player since 1988 to complete the calendar Grand Slam, while the defending champion in the men’s singles event, Marin Čilić defends his championship.

Countdown to the US Open was streamed live on USOpen.org, it started at 11 AM on Thursday, and the draw ceremony was held at 11:30 which featured USOpen.org’s commentators Steve Flink and Brian Clark. A post draw breakdown was managed by ESPN (Entertainment and Sports Programming Network) analysts Darren Cahill and Patrick McEnroe. Following the unveiling of the draws, ESPN’s Chris McKendry conducted interviews with Čilić and Williams.

The 2015 US Open total prize money is $42,253,400 which was increased by 10.5% from the previous prize and the top three finishers in the Emirates Airline US Open Series may earn up an additional $2.625 million in bonus money at the US Open.
