Tennis Betting Tips and Strategies

There are various crucial elements that will affect the way a tennis player will play, therefore affecting the way you bet:

  • Fitness – If the player has had a recent injury or has not played for a long period of time, the player will not play to his full potential
  • Motivation – When players have more to lose (e.g. Rafael Nadal has many winner titles and would want to keep his name on top) they tend to play harder, giving them more of an opportunity to win
  • Surface – Depending on the surface of the court, players might have preferences on which type of surface they play, and certain surfaces they will not do well on
  • Playing Conditions – Things such as rain and heavy wind can negatively impact the players game

Surfaces To Play on in Tennis

  • Clay: There is a variation of red and green clay. Red clay is used at the French open and green clay is used mainly in the U.S. almost all red clay courts are not made of natural clay but of crushed brick that is packed to make the court. Clay courts usually have a slower paced ball and a fairly true bounce with more spin.
  • Hard: Used at the Australian Open, DecoTurf and the U.S Open. Hard courts usually have a faster-paced ball with a very true bounce and are the predominant surface type used on the professional tour.
  • Grass: These courts usually have a faster paced ball and a more erratic bounce. The new form of grass causes the ball to bounce higher and slows it down compared to the previous grass type.
  • Carpet: any form of removable court covering including carpeting and artificial turf. The bounce is sometimes higher or lower than a hard court.
  • Wood: It was popular from the 1880’s through the first half of the 20th Wooden surfaces create a very low bounce and plays very fast. There are no professional tournaments held on a wooden surface.
