Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is being investigated by the Football Association (FA) following his comments about the appointment of referee Anthony Taylor for United’s Premier League game at Anfield, Liverpool on Monday, 17th October 2016.
United manager Mourinho said it will be difficult for Taylor to perform well after the ruling to give him the match was criticised. United boss further added that someone with aim is putting such pressure on Manchester-based Taylor.
The FA will look at the comments made by Mourinho before deciding what action to take, if there’s any. Taylor’s appointment was criticised by Keith Hackett, a former referee and former chief of the Professional Game Match Officials Ltd. Liverpool fans have also questioned the decision on social media.
Jose Mourinho describes Taylor as a good referee
Last season, a similar examination led to the removal of Leicester-based official Kevin Friend from Tottenham’s match at Stoke, when Leicester City and Tottenham Hotspur were both going for the Championship title.
According to BBC Sport, the 53-year-old Mourinho, who replaced Louis van Gaal, described Taylor as a very good referee. However, the Portuguese further stated that he feels it would be difficult for Taylor who supports non-league Altrincham to have a very good performance.
